Four Incubation and one Technology Transfer Agreement signed during 40th Foundation Day

With the inauguration of Incubation Centre at RRCAT along with BARC, IGCAR and IPR and DAE Incubation Policy and Guidelines in the place, there are many initiatives taken by the leadership at RRCAT and a visible change not only in the perception, but also in the Technology Transfer and Incubation Activities. Today Incubation Activities includes technology development with industries, extending the spare capacity of state-of-art infrastructure to industries on chargeable basis, and offering Certificate Courses in the relevant and niche areas. There is more than three-fold increase in the revenues this year as compared to the last year.

RRCAT celebrated its 40th Foundation Day on February 20, 2023. Shri K N Vyas, Chairman Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India was the Chief Guest for the function with Prof. U Kamachi Mudali, Vice-chancellor VIT Bhopal and Former Chief Executive, Heavy Water Board, DAE as Guest of Honor. During the function, Dr. S V Nakhe, Director RRCAT exchanged the documents for one technology transfer, and signed incubation agreement with three industries/ startups in In-house Technology Incubation category and one Collaborative Technology Incubation category.

  • Technology Transfer (TT) of AGNI RAKSHAK: It is a Raman Optical Fibre Based Distributed Fibre Sensor System capable of detecting the temperature rise and its location with an accuracy of ± 3 Deg C over a distance of 1 km. This technology is licenced on non-exclusive basis to Technica Fibre Tech Pvt. Ltd. New Delhi.

    Mr. Dhurv Goyal, CEO, Technica Fibre Tech Pvt. Ltd. New Delhi collected the TT agreement from Dr. S V Nakhe. Dr. Om Prakash, Head, Fibre Sensors & Optical Spectroscopy Section and Dr. Manoj Saxena witnessed as Technology Developer.

  • Incubation Agreement for Laser Additive Manufacturing using Directed Energy Deposition (LAM-DED):  TVASHTR (त्वष्ट्र) is selected as commercial name for LAM-DED technology going in public domain.  TVASHTR is a name of Rishi from Rigveda, who was a skilful craftsman and artisan deity, like – Vishwakarma. He built many wonderful objects including Indra’s Bolt, Brahspatis’ Axe, Cup for Divine food and Drink.

    During foundation day function, agreements were signed with two startups and one CNC machine giant to bring a paradigm shift in Indian and Global Manufacturing Ecosystem with the induction of TVASHTR technology. Foreign companies sell LAM-DED machines for 5 Cr and above, whereas the incubation by RRCAT aims to deliver cost-effective products.

    First agreement was signed with a new startup Ideas AM System (iAMS) Mumbai. iAMS will be catering the product in academia and R&D labs by providing a cost-effective TVASHTR in the price range of 50 – 100 Lacs. Mr. Hrishikesh V. Iyer, CEO, Ideas AM System (iAMS) Mumbai exchanged the incubation agreement.

    Next agreement was signed with another new start-up “VFuse Metal 4 Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. Bhopal” for the incubation of TVASHTR to develop a product by joining conventional and laser source proving a cost effective-solution. The target market segment for VFuse is Indian industries and National Labs and projected price of TVASHTR in the price range of 200 – 350 Lacs. Mr. Manoj Jain, CEO, VFuse Metal 4 Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. Bhopal exchanged the incubation agreement.

    Another agreement was signed with Lokesh Machines Limited Hyderabad - a well-known name in CNC machines. Lokesh is public limited company with its shares listed in BSE and NSE. The company has annual turnover of 200+ Crores with 15% export of the CNC machines in 22 countries across the globe. Lokesh will jointly develop the TVASTHR by developing an Additive-Subtractive Machine and pushed the product to Indian and Global Market. The projected cost of the machine is in the range of 150 – 250 Lacs. Mr. M. Srinvasan, Director, Lokesh Machine Limited exchanged the incubation agreement.


  • Collaborative Incubation Agreement for Circumferential TIG Welding – Special Purpose Machine (CTW-SPM): Technology expertise developed at RRCAT should be shared to solve various industrial problems and where the collaborative technology incubation plays the role. One of such problems was forwarded a MSME from Indore to weld the solid and porous materials. The technology development from RRCAT worked and agreed and take up the work under Collaborative Incubation.

    Mr. Rahul Dalal, the founder of Metal and Membrane Pvt Ltd. Rau Indore exchanged of Incubation Agreement. Mr. Abhay Kumar, Head Design and Manufacturing Technology Division (DMTD) and Mr. Praveen Agarwal joined the stage as technology developer and a representative from Incubation Centre-RRCAT, respectively.

    IC-RRCAT is closely working with many industries/ start-ups to push developed technologies to contribute the Self-reliance Mission of India through परमाणु ऊर्जा का सामर्थ्य – आत्म निर्भर भारत.
