Ultra High Vacuum Technology Section

Ultra-High Vacuum Technology Section is responsible for Design, Development, Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance of vacuum systems and vacuum instrumentations for various accelerators at RRCAT, such as Microtron, Booster, Indus-1, Indus-2, IRFEL, ARPF Linacs etc. Over the years, it has developed a variety of Ultra High Vacuum components for Indus vacuum envelopes like dipole chambers, straight section chambers, septum magnet chambers, kicker chambers, Non Evaporable Getter (NEG) coated low-gap undulator chambers, Titanium coated kicker chambers, Diamond seal UHV flanges, transport lines, RF shielded bellows, photon absorbers, water cooled SR beam dump flanges, taper chambers, sputter Ion Pumps, Titanium Sublimation Pumps etc. It has also developed a range of UHV instruments such as SIP controllers, TSP controllers, Penning gauge head and controllers, BAG controllers, Valve controllers, Temperature monitoring units, Thermocouple interface and control Units, Bakeout & activation controllers and software for uncoated and NEG coated UHV chambers.

To meet all such requirements, UHV Lab is equipped with necessary facilities such as Helium leak testing machines, UHV performance test setup, pumping speed measurement setup for different pumps, Outgassing measurements setup, RGA calibration setup, BAG Controller calibration setup, NEG coating facilities, Advanced Laboratory furnace, and temperature sensor calibration setup etc.
