Pt-CA electrocatalyst for Fuel Cell
Pt-GCA (Platinum loaded graphitic carbon) with 20% Pt loading was developed and characterized for fuel cell application. A membrane electrode assembly (MEA) fabricated with the prepared catalyst and tested in PEMFCs (H2-O2) single cell showed power density of 536 mWcm-2 at 0.6V at 60°C under atmospheric pressure conditions. Pt-GCA was used for making MEA for PEM electrolyser which will be used as part of the CECE heavy water decontamination plant. This cell was operated up to 10,000 amperes per square meter (ASM) current density at maximum operating voltage of 1.92V (~77% efficiency). The material is potential candidate for electrolyser which is part of CECE decontamination plant.
