Modulator and Solid State high voltage switch activities

Indigenous development of high average power , advanced solid state modulators high voltage pulsed modulators, compact high voltage Capacitor Charging Power Supplies and compact switched mode power supplies and high voltage solid state switches as an import substitute for thyrtron switches have been pursued for various particle accelerators at RRCAT. These pulse modulators have been deployed in microwave systems for 20 MeV Injector Microtrone for Indus facility, 25 MeV IRFEL,10 MeV linacs for Agricultural Radiation Processing Applications and LINAC test stand.

Important successful developments include:

  • 6 MW peak &high average power microwave systems for 10 MeV, 5 kW/10 kW electron linac for radiation processing
  • 100 kW peak power pulse modulators for 50 keV electron guns of 10 MeV Linacs
  • 15 MW pulsed microwave system for Infrared Free Electron Laser (IRFEL),
  • 100 kV long pulsed solid stateco+nverter type and Marx type modulators,
  • 1 MW 352.2 MHz pulsed microwave system for LEHIPA program for BARC,
  • 5 MW pulsed microwave system for injector Microtron of Indus complex
  • 100 kV/ 2 MW long pulse solid state modulator for CERN
