Accelerator Controls & Beam Diagnostics Division
Beam Diagnostics Control System (BDCS)

Beam diagnostics devices are required for monitoring electron beam attributes like current, position, shape, size etc. Some of the diagnostic devices that are installed in Indus-2 are:

  • Beam ProfileMonitors (BPM)
  • Beam Position Indicators (BPI)
  • Direct-Current Current Transformer (DCCT)
  • Srtiplines
BPMs are used to see the cross-section profile of the beam. BPIs are used to measure the beam position. DCCT provides information of accumulated beam current in Indus-2.BDCS controls and monitors all such devices placed in TL-3 and Indus-2 ring. The system also facilitates control of devices for performing Slow Orbit Feedback (SOFB), tune measurement and Tune feedback control. The system consists of VME-based 9 EC station connected to 1 SC station.
