XXV DAE Sports & Cultural Meet 2009

Award Distribution ceremony at the XXV DAE Sports and Cultural Meet 2009

The final event of all India XXV DAE Sports & Cultural Meet-2009 – for Chess and Carom was organized at Welfare / Yoga centre during 27th to 31st January, 2010. A total of 98 participants, representing the eight groups of DAE, participated in various categories of chess and carom tournament. The tournament was inaugurated and declared open by the Director RRCAT, Dr. P.D. Gupta at AEC School Ground. Shri A.M. Kekre, then- chief engineer, RRCAT was the Guest of Honour.

In the carom event, the Ellora group won the men’s team championship and Ajanta group won the runners-up trophy. In the women category, Ellora group won the team championship and Ajanta group was runner up. In the men open championship, Shri V.T. Venkateswarlu of Nagarjuna group bagged the championship and Shri Prabhodhan Shekhar of Ajanta group won the runners up trophy. In the women open championship, Ms. Asha Chavan of Ellora group won the winner trophy, while Ms. Sapna Thakur of Ellora group was the runner up.

In the chess event, the Ajanta group and the Rameshwaram group were winner and runner up respectively. Individual championship was won by Dr. Ambar Chatterjee of Ajant group and Shri A.K. Mishra of Rameshawaram group won the runner up trophy.

During closing ceremony of the event, the chief guest, Shri Joginder Singh, Chairman of Central Government Employee Co-ordination Committee, Indore and also the Judicial Member, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Indore gave away the prizes to the winner and runner-up teams and also to the respective team managers as per the DAE guidelines.

Dwarka Group’s Badminton, Table-tennis, Chess & Carom

RRCAT Staff Club organized Dwaraka group pre-selection trials for badminton, table tennis, chess & carom in Men’s Women’s & Veteran’s category.

In the final DAE Badminton meet held at RAPS, Rawatbhata, Dwaraka group bagged Winners trophy in Veteran’s category & Runners up trophy in Men’s category. In the open category of Veteran men’s doubles, Dr. Lala Abhinandan & Shri A.M. Kekre won the open runner-up trophy.

In the men’s open table tennis tournament (Doubles), Dwarka group won the DAE men’s team championship. In the men’s open tournament (Doubles), Dwarka group players won both the winner & runner-up trophies. Shri S. Chinnatambi of RRCAT was one of the members of both the winning team.

RRCAT Cricket Tournament

A tennis-ball league cricket tournament on cluster basis team formation was organized for RRCAT staff and their family members. In this tournament eleven teams participated. Mr. Mohan Majhi of Services team was adjudged as the outstanding performer in the tournament. He scored 254 runs with one century and 7 wickets. Mr. Vinod Dhudmande of Workshop/A took highest 14 wickets. Services A team won the tournament championship and Laser team won the runner up.

Also, season-ball league cricket tournament with five teams namely, Accelerator, Laser, SSLD, Services & IUC was organised. Services won the tournament with four wins, while Accelerator team won the second position with three wins.

RRCAT open badminton tournament

Staff Club organized the open badminton tournament for the Staff and their family members during April 22-24, 2010. 59 players participated in this tournament. In Mens’ Singles. Shri Ashutosh Sharma was the winner. In Men’s doubles category, Shri Ashutosh Sharma & M.B. Sivdas were the winner. Mrs. Nikita Doohan won the Ladies singles and Master C. Akashay Naik won the Boys under 18 singles. Master Roshan Sitole and Miss Debo Smita won boys and girls under 14 category championships respectively.
